In 1939 the Tilton-Northfield Junior High School was built. However as time passed a new problem arose. Within 20 years overcrowding conditions existed. Would we need a new school to handle overcrowding? Why? Our building was still considered new. What avenue could we follow? What could we do to ease overcrowding without hurting the pockets of the local taxpayers? An expansion project became our reality. We would build an addition on to the existing building. A new wing would jet off, not be built on top of the old.

The new section would extend the gym, add a cafeteria, add a stage, create an industrial technology area, add administration offices, nurse office and 12 classrooms.
